Fat activism social movement which seeks to eliminate the social stigma of fatness from social attitudes by pointing out the social obstacles which are faced by fat people to the general public. It has evolved into spreading the thought that obesity is not as bad as science has proven, there are no negative effects of being bigger, obese people can do what slim people can do, there's no difference between foods like a burger from McDonalds and a plate of grilled chicken and veggies, it's all the same. Health at every size has been increasing in popularity and fat tiktokers and fat activists everywhere are dancing (well the ones that can move) and celebrating their fatness along with the discovery of health at every size because they are no longer held under the thumb of this thing called health.
What you will notice though is that many of the fat activists saying they feel great and their weight is not holding them back are quite young. Why? Because the older fat activists don't feel great or they're de*d. Recently there has been an increase of older fat activists who promoted health at every size and every body is beautiful are dying from heart complications.

Art-based activism, or Artivism can be used to amplify and center the voices of those impacted by state sponsored violence and racial inequity in the United States. Artivism can build solidarity across lines of difference and connect to our shared humanity. In this talk, Felicia will demonstrate how Behind the Walls, Between the Lines, a movement to deepen the awareness of the legacy of racial inequity in the United States, and inspire activism at its dismantlement, sparks social change. Felicia A. Henry is a Ph.D. Student in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. Her research interests include race, ethnicity, gender, criminal justice/mass incarceration, and social vulnerability in disasters. A Licensed Social Worker (LMSW), Felicia received her Master of Social Work degree from the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania. Felicia is a Bill Anderson Fund Fellow and Recipient of the Unidel Award in Sociology & Criminal Justice and the University Unidel Distinguished Graduate Scholar Award. Felicia is the founder of Behind the Walls, Between the Lines (BTWBTL), a movement to deepen the awareness of the legacy of racial inequity in America, particularly within the criminal legal system, and inspire activism aimed at its dismantlement. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

A wide range of Americans contributed to the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Students and young people were prominent groups of activists within the movement. Today, we'll learn about the Little Rock Nine, the Greensboro Four, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and the Freedom Riders. These groups undertook protests and worked to integrate schools and public accommodations by riding segregated buses, demanding service at lunch counters, and even by simply attending school.

A presentation by Mike Haber
Description:
The presentation describes different ways that NGOs and non-profits have used sociocracy in their corporate governance structures. Based largely on Prof. Haber’s experience in representing U.S. activist organizations, he discusses different non-profit governance structures that embrace sociocracy within the context of the legal limitations on non-profits and NGOs.
Sociocracy Conference 2020. See more talks from the same conference on our website: www.sociocracyforall.org/conference2020.
Abstract:
Many Non-Profit organizations around the globe aim to influence social change and improve communities. A method these activists can use to help educate others about their message, mobilize their communities and cause social change is digital activism.
Digital Activism uses digital communication tools to achieve goals of social change. Successful social change campaigns often incorporate creativity and interactivity with a meaningful message for the community.
Let's explore successful strategies for digital activists:
1. Have goals and assess outcomes. Organizations must develop a strategy to achieve their goals, conduct research and assess the outcomes of the campaign efforts to succeed in their digital activism campaign.
2. Provide incentives to bring supporters in & give them a reason to stay. Consider the user's experience and play with digital tools & social media to make communication personal and meaningful.
3. Reinforce traditional means of activism.
4. Mobilize & inspire your followers. Communicating the organization's message and inspiring your followers to mobilize behind that message is by far the most important element of a digital activism campaign.
Clearly, digital activists face many challenges including, but not limited to: Internet user passivity, authenticity, online security, and information overload. These are all very real hurdles activists face, but they are not impossible to overcome.
Understand that your successful digital activism campaign will be comprised of personal sacrifice, great discomfort & wonderful learning opportunities. You will also need brilliant creative thinking to light the fire of social change.

In this insightful talk, Nat explains why we shouldn't call out hypocrites, and what to do instead. Too often, Nat says, we use the hypocrisy of others as an excuse for inaction, and charity as an excuse to do anything. We target charitable messengers and avoid critiquing charitable messages. Nat argues that the exact opposite should be true. He explains that the people we call hypocrites often aren't actually hypocritical. Their hypocrisy is an illusion. As such, focussing on the hypocrisy of the messenger is inaccurate and misguided. Instead, Nat argues that we should focus on the validity of the message because this helps to maximize impact. We should not target charitable messengers, and critiquing charitable messages should no longer be taboo. Nat challenges us all to "rebut the message not the messenger" because what matters more than doing an action is the impact of that action. According to Nat, small minds rebut people but great minds rebut arguments!

Neck hump, also known as Dowager's Hump, is typically associated with older women aged 50-59 due to the sudden drop in estrogen during menopause. However, younger people of every gender are now developing this condition as well, often due to prolonged technology use and poor posture, which has led to the condition being called text hump, text neck, or tech neck. Neck hump can be caused by medical reasons such as osteoporosis, degenerative spine changes, congenital disorders, and underlying bone or ligament conditions.
Symptoms may include pain, muscle fatigue, stiffness or tension in the neck and upper shoulders, burning sensation on the spine between the shoulders, headaches and migraines, noticeable forward rounding posture of the shoulders, and forward leaning of the neck. Prevention and treatment options for neck hump include good posture practices, regular exercise, and good nutrition. Here are ten exercises to prevent or improve posture-related neck hump. If you are unsure of the cause of neck hump, it is recommended to consult your healthcare provider to rule out any underlying pathologies or metabolic disorders.

In this video, I show you how to hold your drum sticks with the matched grip style. This involves grabbing the stick with your index finger and thumb about three quarters of the way down the drum stick. Then, you must curl the rest of your fingers around the stick in a comfortable position.
The three versions of matched grip are the French, German, and American style. The French style of matched grip involves your palms facing each other. The German style involves your palms facing the ground. The American style is basically a hybrid of both; your palms are basically at a 45 degree angle.
Holding your drum sticks with matched grip in mind is really easy! Follow the instructions in the video and you'll have it mastered in no time!

I will show you how to make homemade frozen oven chips with a crunchy glass like crust and a soft, smooth and pillowy inside. The method follows the triple cooked process. After the first fry in vegetable oil the chips can be kept in the freezer to be used whenever needed! A quick defrost and then an oven cook produces once of the best chips you will ever eat. They can be cooked from frozen, see note below.

These potato fries go perfectly with fish and chips, burgers, chip butties, and… on their own with sea salt and a splash of vinegar. A robust chip that suits many different plates.
The potatoes can be double fried instead of cooking in the oven. If this is your preferred method then after the first fry they can be cooled and then fried for the second time, or refrigerated and fried again, or frozen, then defrosted and then fried. The final frying temperature is 180c - 356f
You can oven cook these from frozen. Set your oven to 200c, preheat your tray or pan, add the oil and cook the potatoes for 30 - 35 minutes. Cooking the chip form frozen produces good results but defrosting the chip first has outstanding results.
They go perfectly with sandwiches so check out my sandwich series here: https://www.youtube.com/playli....st?list=PLruq9597VHw

Welcome to Ep2 of my new series "How To Find Your Style" where I delve into practical ways to find your style, without feeling overwhelmed.
Last week in my search for finding my style I looked at the importance of doing a style/wardrobe analysis and that was incredibly useful. Feel free to watch the first video of my series here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzch2bM9dOE
This week I look at questions to ask when searching for fashion / style inspiration, and how to filter through fashion inspiration to help you get a better understanding of what your style is / how you want to dress.
All of the photos used for this fashion video are from Pinterest.
Do let me know if you have any other tips for filtering through photos and videos / fashion content and share that with the community.
If there are any requests or anything that I might have missed, please let me know and I will for sure consider making it a part of this journey!
Thank you so much for your support,
I am personally so excited to find my style, in the hope that this year I will be smarter when it comes to choosing sewing projects as well as choosing what clothes to buy when I add new things in my wardrobe.
