Julia Steinberger - Scientific responsibility and climate activism
The talk is part of the lunch talk series:
"Climate change involves all fields: Reflecting on scientists’ engagement"
Julia Steinberger researches and teaches in the interdisciplinary areas of Ecological Economics and Industrial Ecology as a Professor of Societal Challenges of Climate Change at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.
Her research examines the connections between resource use (energy and materials, greenhouse gas emissions) and societal performance (economic activity and human wellbeing). She is interested in quantifying the current and historical linkages between resource use and socioeconomic parameters, and identifying alternative development pathways to guide the necessary transition to a low carbon society.

This series of talks was organized by Scientist Rebellion Switzerland.
#ScientistRebellion aims to mobilise an unprecedented number of academics and scientists in non-violent civil disobedience.
We target scientific institutions, publishers and universities to compel our own institutions to go beyond speaking the truth and start acting on it.
We target governments, compelling decision makers to act in proportion to the crisis. They can ignore words; they cannot ignore a swelling resistance.
We facilitate a range of actions so that the broadest possible group of activists can participate.
Join us in rebellion!
