What is camouflage? Why do animals need to use it? Well, in Animal Camouflage, your kids and students will learn the answers to these questions! First off, there are many different kinds of camouflage, and we will discuss four of the main kinds that apply to animals in this video. Did you know that there is actually more than one reason that animals use camouflage?

A lot of animals use camouflage to hide from predators. The colors of their skin or fur helps them blend into the environment around them. Some animals, though, use camouflage to hunt. For the same reason that camouflage helps some animals hide to avoid predators, other animals blend into their surroundings to catch their prey unaware! In addition to hiding and hunting, a few animals use their coloring to communicate. Take the chameleon, for example. Most people think chameleons use color changing to fool predators. But that's not actually true! Chameleons change colors to communicate to other chameleons! They change color to communicate danger, to attract a mate, or simply to signal a change of environment.

These animals are so cool! You and your kids will discover just how many different types of animals take advantage of this amazing characteristic. And maybe you just might stumble upon one of these incredible creatures!

HEY EVERYBODY!! I'm the boss today at Adley and Dad's animal daycare!! My dad and I have set up a little business to help out pets and animals because we love them so much!! Anyone can stop by and drop off their pet and we will watch them for the day!! We have beds, food, baths, and fun activities for all the pets and they have a great time with us!! We usually get the usual dogs, cats, and guinea pigs BUT today was really special!! We were visited by Little Live Pets!! We got to take care of some really cool animals like birds, turtles, and pet fish!! The birds loved to sing and repeat us, the turtles loved walking around land and swimming in water, and the fish loved to race and have fun in the pool!! I loved playing with these new toys and I can't wait to do it again!!

Baboons Rescue Antelope

Baboons can become vicious when they are threatened and will gang up on predators to defend their territory, but what about when another animal is in trouble? Watch how this cheetah targets an antelope and see what happens next. After a quick run, the cheetah finally captures the antelope, but a group of baboons intervenes, and the cheetah abandons its prey. The baboons stand up to the cheetah who hisses at them, and they even chase it for a short distance scaring the cheetah off. The baboons even go check out the antelope to see if it's okay. The antelope seems injured, breathing on the ground, but eventually gets up and has difficulty walking among the baboons, but will live to see another day. Baboons gang up on a leopard this time and they chase it away. Baboons are fierce opponents, and they shouldn’t be messed with.

Bear Rescues Crow

Bears have been known to be nice. Watch what happens when this bear finds a crow drowning in a pond next to it. The bear notices the crow and reaches out to it with its paw as if to lift it out of the water. Maybe it is to eat it but let us watch and see before we jump to conclusions. The bear pulls the crow out of the water with its mouth clinging to one of the crow’s wings and just drops the crow on the ground before attending to its food. The crow looks a little out of it and tries getting back on its feet, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be easy. Eventually, the crow can get up and the bear still has its back turned away from the crow. Believe it or not, the bear actually saved the crow from drowning, because it had absolutely no interest in the crow afterward. What a great feat by this friendly and cuddly bear. This next clip shows a crow annoying a big polar bear who does not seem to mind the crow plucking at its fur. It finally feels something and turns around, notices the crow, but doesn’t really care.

Leopards are fearsome hunters, notorious in the wild, with an obsession with herbivores in wild animals. Even with other predators. Their food is quite diverse, have you ever witnessed the sight of a dog struggling under the control of a leopard in wild animals?
Leopards even hunt dogs, and dogs are also formidable carnivores. Dog owners in leopard-infested areas are often wise to keep them in kennels for their safety as leopards are known to be dog-eaters.
